Development Manager
Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa Limited are the commercial investment company for central Tāmaki tangata whenua and ahi ka, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. Whai Rawa is responsible for protecting and growing the $1.47 billion asset base to support whānau and their aspirations for generations to come.

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa is looking to bring on board a Development Manager to play a key role both delivering existing, residential projects through to completion including construction and sales as well as identifying and scoping future opportunities through their land holdings.
Reporting to the GM, Property Development and working closely with the CEO and property team the Development Manager will be responsible for enhancing the existing portfolio as well as identifying external strategic development opportunities.
Key Accountabilities – Ngā Kawenga Takohanga
- Identify potential development opportunities that fit with Whai Rawa’s development strategy.
- Undertaking detailed feasibility and financial analysis of prospective developments and developing business case support for board approval.
- Management of design, master planning and consenting processes.
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders on design, procurement and tendering of projects.
- Oversee the delivery of developments and investments on time and to budget.
- Facilitating opportunities for whānau businesses.
A significant part of the role will be building key relationships with local authorities’ potential partners, consultants, contractors as well as internal stakeholders – kaimahi and whānau.
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity the ideal candidate will have end to end experience as a development manager within New Zealand.
Experience and Qualifications - Ngā pūkenga me ngā tohu mātauranga
- A relevant tertiary qualification majoring preferably in valuation, engineering, property, project management or construction economics.
- Ideally residential development experience.
- You should have end to end development management experience with a proven eye for identifying new opportunities and turning those opportunities in to reality.
- You must be fully conversant with each stage of property development from feasibility, financial analysis, planning and consenting, sales and marketing and construction, including both vertical structures and civil works.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to produce high quality reports.
- A respect for te Ao Māori, and a willingness to learn.
