Te Kaupapa service aims to reinstate a mātauranga Māori approach that incorporates ‘oranga whakapapa’, is Māori centric and underpinned by Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, Toi Māori and Rongoā Māori. Te Kaupapa is a service that links whaiora with whakapapa through pūrākau and the characteristics of the Atua, their tipuna and, ultimately their pre-colonised self.
Purpose of the role
The role is expected to provide a high level of engagement, working with the clinical and lived experience Mataora kaiārahi contributing to implementing and delivering the Kaupapa with tangata whaiora and whānau. The cultural Mataora kaiārahi must be confident to uphold mātauranga, Tikanga & Kawa of the kaupapa.
The purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with the Clinical lead and Mataora kaiārahi (Lived Experience) to deliver high level engagement & support to Māori who are inequitably affected by mental health/addiction issues. The Mataora kaiārahi (Cultural Support) will use their Te Reo, Tikanga, Whakapapa, Rongoa Māori, matauranga knowledge to reinstate and support whanau connect to their mauri self

- Lived experience in positive methods to reinstating of Mātauranga Māori
- Have a passion for communities and empathy for people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds including the vulnerable
- Ability to relate to people from different backgrounds, in particular building rapport and relationship with whānau Māori
