Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei is a hapū of Ngāti Whātua. We live in and around the Tāmaki isthmus. We hold to our mana motuhake, our history, our culture, our identity, and our reo. Our whakapapa traces to Tuperiri and the hapū Ngā Oho, Te Taoū, and Te Uringutu.
We are tangata whenua in Tāmaki. Our authority over land and sea rests on take tupuna, take raupatu, ahi kā, and tuku whenua.
Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust looks after the collective affairs of our hapū. We have more than 8,000 registered members across Aotearoa and overseas. Ōrākei Marae is our cultural hub.
Te Kahu Tōpuni o Tuperiri describes the protective reach of our ancestor across our rohe.
Purpose of the role
We are looking for a creative and technically skilled Multimedia Content Producer to capture and produce the stories that bring Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to life.
Through video, photography, motion graphics, and digital storytelling, you’ll showcase the people, places, and kaupapa that define who we are, from whānau achievements and iwi initiatives through to partnerships, events, and major projects across our rohe.
In this role, you’ll produce visually compelling and culturally grounded content for digital, social, and event platforms. You will work closely with the Creative & Platforms Manager, Graphic Designer, and the wider Toi Karere team to ensure our messaging and visuals are consistent, impactful, and aligned with our identity as kaitiaki, innovators, and iwi leaders.

Ngā tino pūkenga/whēako | Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Multimedia, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
- Strong portfolio showcasing videography, photography, editing, and design work
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a multimedia or visual content role
- Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Experience producing content for social media and digital channels
- Ability to interpret creative briefs and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent understanding of digital formats, aspect ratios, optimisation, and accessibility
- Familiarity with kaupapa Māori, iwi communications or a willingness to learn and grow in this space

Key Result Areas:
- Capture and produce high-quality video, photography, and multimedia content
- Edit content for campaigns, events, social media, websites, and presentations
- Maintain multimedia asset libraries and ensure proper usage rights
- Collaborate with internal teams on briefs, events, and planning sessions
- Optimise content for each platform, including livestream and digital event support
- Uphold Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei brand, tikanga, identity, and cultural integrity
- Monitor performance insights to refine and improve content outputs
