We are tangata whenua in Tāmaki. Our authority over land and sea rests on take tupuna, take raupatu, ahi kā, and tuku whenua.
Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust looks after the collective affairs of our hapū. We have more than 8,000 registered members across Aotearoa and overseas. Ōrākei Marae is our cultural hub.

Purpose of the role
The IT, Systems and Data Manager is responsible for the secure, reliable and strategic delivery of technology services across Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. This role ensures stable day-to-day IT operations while strengthening cybersecurity posture, system resilience and data integrity across the organisation.
The role leads the management of external IT providers, holding vendors accountable for performance, security and value for money. It oversees infrastructure, platform performance, backup and disaster recovery capability, and ensures change, access and lifecycle management processes reduce organisational risk.
Working closely with the Business Systems & IT Analyst, this role supports integrated systems and robust data environments that enable accurate reporting and informed decision-making. The role leads IT budgeting and roadmap planning, providing the Chief Operations Officer with clear insight into risk posture, system performance and future investment needs.
This position plays a key role in maturing Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s technology capability from operational stability to strategic enablement.
Ngā tino pūkenga/whēako | Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
At least 5 years of experience in a senior IT leadership or technology management role
Proven experience managing outsourced IT service providers and vendor contracts
Demonstrated experience overseeing IT operations in a multi-site or complex environment
Proven ability to manage IT budgets, forecasting and financial reporting
Experience implementing or strengthening cybersecurity controls and risk management practices
Strong project management capability with evidence of delivering IT initiatives within scope and budget
Proven ability to manage day-to-day operations, including planning, communication and stakeholder engagement
Proven experience managing outsourced IT service providers and technology vendors
Demonstrated experience in monitoring and enforcing SLAs and contractual performance obligations
Experience preparing vendor performance reporting for senior leadership
Desirable:
Experience contributing to data governance or systems integration initiatives
Experience working within iwi, not-for-profit, public sector or community-based organisations
Understanding of Māori data sovereignty principles
Experience working in Te Ao Māori contexts
